(Disclaimer I made this
wine from the vines I planted in 2002)
Ambrosia 2006 Estate Merlot, Bundalong,
Victoria
The
colour is still a bright Ruby with a sparkling shine to it, surprising for a 10
year old wine. On the nose there are macerated black currents reminiscent of
Ribena, with soft oak in the back ground. Its super smooth and very broad on
the palate, the fruit is more like stewed dark berries “a little jammy”, the
tannins are very soft with a long and lasting finish. I am happily surprised with
this wine as I was very new to growing and making as this was only the second
vintage, I feel it’s already peaked and I’d better start drinking the few that
are left. 16/20 Cheer Gaz
