McAlister 2001 Merlot-Noir, Longford- Victoria-Australia, Tasted: 25/10/2011
It is dark cherry in colour with a lovely sheen, no browning which is a surprise for its age of 10 years. There is a hint of aniseed on the nose, followed by some earthy Forrest floor notes then some red cherries. The body of the wine is medium in weight, very silky smooth with a punch of all the crimson red fruits. Yeah what a unique wine, lets mess with the purists minds as this works fine for me.
